We partner with brands to help them move shelf-stable products that they can't sell to retailers because the products are nearing their best-before dates, and they would otherwise end up in the landfill. Yes, there is a membership fee to access the Best Before Market. When you purchase an
annual BB_Club membership, $60 is charged annually (only $5/month). If you prefer to
shop month-to-month, the BB_Club membership fee is $7 per month. Currently when you sign up, the membership fee is waived for your first 3 months. After your first 3 month free membership, you will be charged $7 monthly. Learn how to become a BB_Club member here

When products are close to their best-before dates, it is not an indication of safety but because of the confusion surrounding the labeling of best-before dates, many consumers think it means the product is not safe to consume or will not taste good. As a result, millions of pounds of perfectly good food and products end up going to waste. By purchasing these products, you are not only saving money on good quality food for you and your family, but you are also helping to rescue the obscene amount of food waste.

According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service, the USDA estimates that 30 percent of the food supply is lost or wasted at the retail and consumer levels. One source of food waste arises from consumers or retailers throwing away wholesome food because of confusion about the meaning of dates displayed on the label. To reduce consumer confusion and wasted food, FSIS recommends that food manufacturers and retailers apply product dating use a “Best if Used By” date. Research shows that this phrase conveys to consumers that the product will be of best quality if used by the calendar date shown. Foods not exhibiting signs of spoilage should be wholesome and may be sold, purchased, donated and consumed beyond the labeled "Best if Used By" date.

There are 2 main reasons: 1. Confusion over the meaning of dates applied to food products can result in consumers discarding or not purchasing wholesome food. Shelf-stable food products are usually safe to consume past the best-before date on the label. However, regardless of this date, consumers should always evaluate the quality of food product prior to its consumption, to ensure there are no signs of spoilage. 2. Virtually all major retailers have requirements that dictate how short-dated a product can be. If a brand happens to over-estimate their production needs or a retailer places a smaller order than anticipated, the excess products become too short-dated to sell by most retailer standards and quite literally end up in the garbage. Often, this is tens of thousands of units of perfectly good food and products!

Before partnering with any brand to bring a product to the Best Before Market, we confirm with each brand that their products are of high quality. When we receive product shipments in our warehouse, we do an additional quality control sample to ensure products meet our standards of quality and freshness.

Our mission is to reduce waste by saving products from going to waste when they are no longer sellable for retail. While the majority of this is a result of products close to their best-before dates that retailers will not purchase, some items relate to brands having overstock products or brands who are changing their packaging - so they are left with product that would have been otherwise disposed of. Thankfully, we are able to get this product and save it before it goes to waste!

Baby formula is not to be consumed after its best-before date. Do not buy or use infant formula after its use-by date. Dating is required on infant formula under the Food and Drug Administration inspection.

Once your order is placed, please allow for 5-7 business days for your order to be processed and shipped by our small but mighty team. We use a combination of couriers to get your order shipped to you as quickly as we can while using local couriers where possible. Please allow for an additional transit time of 2-5 business days.
